On Wednesday December 2, 2015 members of Journeyman Basketball, including the JPA President, Ryan O’Donnell, delivered a framed jersey and league photo to Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Exeter. The jersey represents a token of appreciation for Access’ long-standing relationship with Journeyman Basketball. Earlier this year, the Physicians of Access Sports Medicine made a generous donation to Journeyman Basketball to help pay for new uniforms for the athletes that participate in the program each year.

Journeyman Basketball is a 501C(3) non-profit community organization designed to involve youth in learning to discover their personal potential as a person and player as well as how to function as part of a team. Participants are expected to become responsible to themselves, their teammates, their families and the community.

Through the use of basketball, they instill not just game skills, but also life skills. Players learn not only ball handling, shooting and other fundamentals of the game, but also how to handle responsibility. There are fees for players which help defray the costs of practice space, equipment, uniforms, referees, and more. Thanks to the generosity of a number of area businesses, players are able to participate in the program at a reduced cost.

Speaking for all Journeyman basketball players, we appreciate the support that Access Sports Medicine has given our program over the years to play the game of basketball and represent the community.  The uniforms, especially, are not only top quality, but look good too. We are very lucky to have Access as part of our team,” said Ryan O’Donnell, JPA President.

Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics is proud to support Journeyman Basketball and the positive impact that the organization as on so many young athletes in the Exeter Area.

“Journeyman basketball is exactly the type of program we at Access want to support.  Journeyman Basketball has provided countless boys and girls’ purpose, health, and a great team experience,” said Dr. Joshua Siegel, Director of Sports Medicine at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics. “Journeyman Basketball preaches Character, Commitment, and Community as their motto and teaches kids how everyday is a day in which a person can start anew, leaving behind the mistakes of yesterday and the fears of tomorrow to live in the moment and advance these principles.  They are a terrific organization and we are proud to support their efforts in our community.
