Portsmouth, NH – Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics hosted a Free Interactive Sports Medicine Event on Tuesday, November 8th at 155 Borthwick Ave in Portsmouth.   The event consisted of two brief presentations and a practical component where attendees had the opportunity learn and try exercises to help improve flexibility and prevent common sports related injuries.

Former Assistant Team Physician for the Boston Celtics, Dr. A. David Davis presented on the “Treatment and Prevention of Common Ankle Injuries.”  Dr. Davis was joined by Mike Thompson, BS, ATC, a certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach with Access Acceleration.  Mike demonstrated several basic injury prevention exercises and worked with the attendees as they learned and attempted the exercises themselves.  Following the Ankle injury presentation, Dr. Kevin Heaton, Director of the Sports Concussion Program at Access Sports Medicine discussed “Concussions in Youth Sports.”

Daniel S. Zipin, DO Presents at NH Chapter of CMSNE Annual Meeting

Exeter, NH – January 26, 2011 – The New Hampshire Chapter of the Case Manager Society of New England (CMSNE) held their annual meeting at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Exeter on Wednesday, January 26th.  Dr. Daniel Zipin of Access Sports Medicine was invited to speak on the role of a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician in the treatment of injured workers.  Dr. Zipin is fellowship trained in Interventional Spine and treats both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

The goal of a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician is to use non-surgical treatments to restore or maximize function and improve a patients “Quality of Life.”  Dr. Zipin uses diagnostic testing including nerve conduction studies and epidural steroid injections to diagnose and treat many common musculoskeletal injuries.  The nurse case managers participated in a question and answer session and examined case studies of patients who have received treatment by a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician.  For more information about Daniel S.
