Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics is committed to providing you
the finest in educational videos and pamphlets to help better
explain and educate the patient of his or her malady. Many of
these products have been manufactured exclusively for our clinic,
and many of these products are distributed through national organizations,
such as the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.

Videos
span those of standard knee and shoulder arthroscopy, to complex
ligamentous reconstruction for those who are interested. In addition,
we like patients to understand what to expect postoperatively,
and this can be done through educational pamphlets or through
a visit with physical therapy, where the expectations and physical
therapy regimen will be explained to the patient preoperatively.
We feel this unique aspect of our clinic allows patients piece
of mind while understanding their particular ailment and the treatment
that is necessary to alleviate it.

Concussion
information posted in USA Today: NFL Tries to Improve Players'
Understanding of Injury:
Beginning next season, NFL clubs will be required to do "neurological
baseline testing" on all players as a tool in determining
if their mental functioning is at a normal level after concussions.
The ImPACT
testing program was developed at the University of Pittsburgh
Medical Center and first was used in the NFL by the Pittsburgh
Steelers in the early 1990s. Most NFL clubs had been using it
but some only for positions at higher risk of concussions, such
as quarterbacks and wide receivers. Click
