As part of our total commitment to bone health - including the prevention of pathologic fractures - the physicians of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics have started a new program for bone mineral density testing and treatment of osteoporosis. We are reviewing risk factors for all of our patients over age 40 and recommending testing via central DEXA scan for patients determined to be at risk for osteoporosis. We are performing our DEXA scans and vertebral fracture assessments using our new, state-of-the-art Hologic Discovery scanner.
