Exeter, NH – For the past 15 years, the Exeter PTO has encouraged health and wellness in the community with the Get Fit in May 5K Road Race.  The annual event began in 1999 with the support of Founding Sponsor Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics.  The race takes place each year in mid-May at Lincoln Street Elementary School and is a USATF certified 5K run or fitness walk and kid’s fun run.

Over the years, the Get Fit in May event has evolved to include a health and wellness fair in addition to the road race and fun run.  Patrons have the opportunity to visit the booths of various businesses promoting health and wellness in the community.  The day features live music, a rock climbing wall, demonstrations, food vendors and several other health-themed activities.

According to Eric Cimon of Access Sports Medicine, the Get Fit in May event provides an unofficial kick-off to the summer season for the town of Exeter.  “We look forward to this event each year,” says Cimon.  “With a focus on health and wellness and the participation of hundreds children and families, there is a really positive energy surrounding the day’s festivities.  We are proud to be the founding sponsor and to have the opportunity to continue to support the Exeter PTO.”

The 2013 Exeter PTO Get Fit in May 5K Road Race will be held on Saturday, May 18th with activities beginning at 8:30am.  All proceeds for the event go to support the Exeter Elementary PTO.  For more information or to register online, visit www.getfitinmay.com.
