In 1998, Joshua A. Siegel, MD moved to the Seacoast to pursue his medical career as the first fellowship-trained orthopaedic sports surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder surgery. That same year, he became a founding member of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics and the Northeast Surgery Center — both of which aim to provide patients in the Seacoast area with the best orthopaedic care. Still very active, he just founded and opened Access Ambulatory Surgery Center this past February.

Fast forward exactly 20 years later and the Buffalo, New York native has been named “Best of the Seacoast” in the “Best Doctor” category. This recognition is especially meaningful, since readers and fans of Seacoast Online cast votes for their favorite businesses and professionals in the area.

Dr. Siegel’s dedication to his practice and expertise in the field of sports medicine injuries, arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures has earned him additional accolades including:

  • Top Sports Medicine Physician from NH Magazine (ten-time recipient)
  • Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Sports Medicine (seven-time recipient)
  • One of the 59 Great Orthopaedic Surgeons Recommended by Healthcare Leaders from Becker’s Spine Review
  • One of the 100 Physician Leaders to Know in the ASC Industry from Becker’s ASC Review

As a founding member and sports medicine director of Access Sports Medicine, Dr. Siegel understands the value of staffing all six orthopaedic clinics with the best team possible — whether it be orthopaedic surgeons, physician assistants, athletic trainers or appointment schedulers.

“Whenever a surgeon at Access receives an award or recognition, it’s a testament to the entire team’s effort and dedication to our patients,” Dr. Siegel said. “Patients interact with many different employees during their visit, so being acknowledged by the community means we have put together an outstanding team.”

Community is an integral part of Dr. Siegel’s career. Besides leading programs like Access Rehabilitation and Access Acceleration, he also oversees the integration of athletic training programs at many local schools, including Phillips Exeter Academy.

On a bigger scale, Dr. Siegel is a U.S. Olympic Committee team physician, a U.S. ski team physician and is involved in USGA and PGA tour events. He’s been the go-to physician for regional Division I athletes, professional athletes and sports teams.

With 2018 marking the 20th anniversary of Dr. Siegel’s relocation to New Hampshire and the founding of Access Sports Medicine, the “Best of the Seacoast” recognition is a sentimental honor. Dr. Siegel has solidified himself as one of New England’s top orthopaedic surgeons while Access Sports Medicine has become one of the leading centers for orthopaedic care.

Access Sports Medicine now has six locations throughout southern New Hampshire and recently opened a new ambulatory surgery center. For more information about Dr. Siegel or our orthopaedic services, please contact us.
