non-surgical treatmentsExeter, NH – January 26, 2011 – The New Hampshire Chapter of the Case Manager Society of New England (CMSNE) held their annual meeting at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Exeter on Wednesday, January 26th. Dr. Daniel Zipin of Access Sports Medicine was invited to speak on the role of a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician in the treatment of injured workers. Dr. Zipin is fellowship trained in Interventional Spine and treats both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

The goal of a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician is to use non-surgical treatments to restore or maximize function and improve a patients “Quality of Life.” Dr. Zipin uses diagnostic testing including nerve conduction studies and epidural steroid injections to diagnose and treat many common musculoskeletal injuries. The nurse case managers participated in a question and answer session and examined case studies of patients who have received treatment by a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician.
