ImPACTseminarRochester3_112513Rochester, NH – Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics would like to invite Rochester area parents, coaches and athletes to a free discussion on “Proper Management of Sports-Related Concussions”.  The session will take place on Thursday, January 9th at 6:30pm at the new Access Sports Medicine facility in the Access Plaza at 187 Gonic Rd in Rochester, NH. (Note: as of October 2013, the Rochester location is now located at 120 Washington St.)

Dr. Kevin Heaton, the Director of the Sports Concussion program at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, will discuss the common signs and symptoms of a sports–related concussion.  He will talk about ImPACT Baseline Testing as a first step in concussion management and the importance of immediate removal from play with a suspected head-injury.  Dr. Heaton will explain the concussion management protocol at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, the use of both physical and academic restrictions and the innovative methods that are being used to aid in an athlete’s recovery following a concussion.
