Rochester, NH – Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics would like to invite Rochester area parents, coaches and athletes to a free discussion on “Proper Management of Sports-Related Concussions”. The session will take place on Thursday, January 9th at 6:30pm at the new Access Sports Medicine facility in the Access Plaza at 187 Gonic Rd in Rochester, NH.
Dr. Kevin Heaton, the Director of the Sports Concussion program at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, will discuss the common signs and symptoms of a sports–related concussion. He will talk about ImPACT Baseline Testing as a first step in concussion management and the importance of immediate removal from play with a suspected head-injury. Dr. Heaton will explain the concussion management protocol at Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, the use of both physical and academic restrictions and the innovative methods that are being used to aid in an athlete’s recovery following a concussion.
