Orlando, FL – Dr. James R. Andrews, MD, orthopaedic sports medicine leader and past AOSSM President, was inducted into the American orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Hall of Fame on Friday July 10th in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Joshua Siegel, MD of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, trained under Dr. Andrews and completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine.
“Working with Dr. Andrews was by far the most important part of my educational experience. His mission is to train the finest sports medicine doctors in the world,” said Dr. Siegel.
Referring to Dr. Andrews as “incredibly gracious, intelligent, kind, and knowledgeable,” Dr. Siegel said no one is more deserving for induction into the AOSSM Hall of Fame.
“Dr. Andrews has made it his life’s work to advance the field of sports medicine and create an entire generation or two of trained fellows throughout the U.S. and world,” added Dr. Siegel. “I consider it a privilege and honor to have received my sports medicine training from him.”
Dr. Andrews is one of the founding members of the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also founding partner and medical director of Andrews Institute and Andrews Research and Education Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida and played a crucial role developing the STOP Sports Injuries campaign to help prevent athletic overuse and trauma injuries in kids.
