EXETER, NH — Baseball enthusiasts near and far: finally a website dedicated to the safety and proper technique of pitching. MLB and USA Baseball have teamed up to create a website targeted to help youth baseball players, parents and coaches learn about playing the game safely.

It’s called Pitch Smart and offers comprehensive information on pitching guidelines, risk factors and even has an FAQ section about Tommy John surgery, which is reconstruction of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the elbow.

ASMI Medical Director Dr. James Andrews along with Research Director Glenn Fleisig, Ph.D., both serve on the Advisory Committee which helped create Pitch Smart and the pitching guidelines to help protect young athletes’ arms. Bullet point sections of the website, along with video testimonials makes it easy for any athlete, parent or coach to get the information they need. If you’d like to learn more about Pitch Smart, visit https://m.mlb.com/pitchsmart/.

Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics’ own Dr. Joshua Siegel MD trained under Dr. Andrews at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Access’ Dr. Benjamin Thompson MD also completed his fellowship with Dr. Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
